Darren Rogers grew up in Alamosa, graduating from ASC with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (1992). Darren has climbed many of Colorado’s 14er’s and has traveled to remote parts of the world experiencing cultures and testing his mental fortitude at high altitude to reach mountain tops in Africa, Bolivia, Ecuador, Tibet and Nepal. In 2015, he set his sights on Mount Everest and Lhotse. While at Camp 1 (20,000 feet), a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. After the subsequent avalanches making the Khumbu Ice-Fall impassable, he was rescued by helicopter. Darren returned to Nepal in 2016 and had a successful summit of Mount Everest. See the pictures, hear the stories of training, life in Base Camp and experience the adventure of climbing the World’s highest mountain.
